Using Musical Instruments to Help Military Children Heal
Donate musical instruments

Music has the power to move people. It’s a universal language, more powerful than anything. Music makes it easy for people to express their feelings when nothing else works. As such, it can be a lifeline for people.

Why Do We Provide Musical Instruments to Military Children?

Our nonprofit organization was created with a singular focus in mind: donating musical instruments to military children to help them heal.

We collect donations from our sponsors and generous donors and use them to purchase guitars. These guitars are then provided to military children who are dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Our mentors also equip children with the knowledge of basic notes to ensure they have something to keep their mind occupied, while also having a healthy outlet for their feelings through Music Therapy and Guitar Lessons.

How Do Musical Instruments Help Military Children Heal?

Donating musical instruments can help children in military families. Here’s how:

1. Music Becomes a Safe Outlet for Emotions

Children from a military background often face stress and anxiety. In these hard times, music can be a safe outlet for their emotions. It gives them a healthy way to release sadness, loneliness, or frustration.

2. Music Builds Confidence and Identity

Music is a skill that brings us closer to each other, regardless of age, nationality, or gender. We don’t always need to understand the lyrics, but the harmonies can be enough for us to resonate with a particular composition.

3. Donating Instruments Supports Mental Health

Music can reduce stress and balance our hormones. And most importantly, it makes us feel heard. Donating an instrument to military children can help them in the most difficult of times.

4. Instruments Open Doors to New Opportunities

Music can easily help children to grow mentally, physically, and professionally. Unfortunately, many children can’t discover their talents because instruments are expensive, and they have no one to guide them properly. Donate instruments to make it possible for military kids to access opportunities that could shape their future.

5. You Create Healing That Lasts Beyond Childhood

Music learned in childhood becomes a lifelong gift. A child who receives a guitar may use music for healing throughout adulthood. The impact of your choice to donate musical instruments does not end when the child grows up. It can ripple through generations.

A Simple Donation Goes a Long Way

When you decide to donate to Gold Star Mentors, you’re helping us equip children with the musical instruments and tools to build confidence, hope, and most importantly, a way to help them heal.

Decide, donate. Help a child today.
